 I know I’m gonna cacth it, but IMHO the demos speak (or sing) for themselves. Taking into account this defferent styles and techniques. The #1 component on which I rate is comprehensibility. It seems that for the most part LOLA is more intelligible than LEON? Can owners of both fonts attest to this?

Not to offend any LEON owners :)

I wouldnt know since I dont have Lola. But The vocals I’m posting are pretty intelligible. I still havent quite conquered the odd tonal effect though.

I don’t have Leon, either. I’d be curious the hear them performing the same .mid file though. Maybe I falling into the trap again- where you already know the words, so your mind fills in the blanks. I argued with my partner for days after my 1st Lola test. (“Whaddya mean it sounds like a trumpet?!? Can’t your hear?”)
I guess we’ll all get better with time, but I’m becoming more critical of pronunciation now. I spent days on the last project to get it to where a singer could understand it without a lyric sheet and it’s not even %25 done. Whew, long road ahead..

I guess they are both of them as good as the person programming them. What I’ve heard from the demos doesn’t sway me either way.
Cheers
Chris

I’ve posted lots of midi files you can try Lola with Willy. You can then compare by trying a matching Mp3. I need to try some of the Lola midi’s myself but havent had the time yet.

Haven’t tried Leon. Besides, I’m happy if words (for which I know the lyrics already) sound reasonably word-like. My concern is tonality – so I’m out of step with others here. That said, so far the Lola demos sound a lot better than anything I’ve heard from Leon.

I think my “Singing” MP3 download is the only/first Lola & Leon collaboration. I’m glad I have both actually, my harmony experiments have been quite enjoyable, and I’m sure much better with a male and female than with just one of them.

I agree with willymac with regards working in Vocalolid and convincing yourself it sounds intelligeable, when the reality is that it doesn’t. This [i:35incgyl]mix-forgiveness[/i:35incgyl] comes on too quickly when working in Vocaloid, and I would suggest to every Vocaloid user that they check their work with as many people as possible before doing anything with it. Non-Vocaloid users are not lying nor are they deaf when they say they can’t make out what’s being sung. It is very diufficult to make Vocaloid intelligeable in English .. although it may be quite good for Japanese. I’m looking forward to a really big upgrade of the Yamaha engine, to make Vocaloid sound good in English! [u:35incgyl]Open Vocaloid’s mouth please[/u:35incgyl].

I’ve got some visitors with me right now (i.e. non-vocaloid users) and I’ve just played Q’s “Singing” mp3 track to them. I got them to write down what they thought they were hearing. I got “sane gang”, “same gang” and “sin gang” respectively. Wow…..

That’s a result then :D, because that’s exactly what I intended Vocaloid to sing. I was trying for an American drawl .. [i:230ylqyo]sangen[/i:230ylqyo].
