Hi there : Im New !

I have just got Lola, and although it can make some cool sounds i am still very dissapointed with the qulity of the diction.

Previously I have been using the Mac OSX speech API to render text to speech and then using Melodyne to to the pitching and shaping.

I havent managed to get anywhere near the clarity with vocaloid yet :

An example of what Ive been able to acheive with OSX/Meleodyne can be heard at http://www.8inf.com/rlmastered.mp3 if you are interested.

Has anyone got any good diction ~~? Is there a trick to it ?

Hi arroncx,

I also have some issues with the frequency response of the final rendered audio. Perhaps some audio bandwidth is being thrown away in order to speed up the FFT transform processing.

Yeah : i noticed that :

There are also some pretty nasty artifacts generated sometimes.

I think the bottom line is that am yet to be convinced that vocaloid is as sophisticated as the marketing states.

It feels like a good idea so badly implemented it dosnt work.

Ive only had a fortnight though. Perhaps Someone will generate a breathtaking demo that will really impress me ! Id love to think it was just my own incompetance !

Hi arroncx, I’d like to hear something you’ve created with Vocaloid :D

I think the Zero-G “Sweet Dreams” demo (1st 8 bars anyway) is the most intelligible demo so far by a long shot.. It would be interesting to see that mid file.

Go and enter some text into the demo window at the AT&T Labs-Research Text To Speech website, for an intelligibility comparison.

I was sold on Vocaloid after hearing the ‘Kimi No Uwasa’ Japanese mp3 demo. I have trouble believing that this mp3 audio was produced by Vocaloid. It’s pretty much perfect. There is a ‘Happy Birthday’ Vocaloid midi demo in the download section here at Vocaloid-user.net
Zero-G themselves have produced and uploaded it. Is this the best we can expect from Vocaloid ? I have a couple of days left before I have to register it, or send it back for a refund.
Cheers Jimbo

Although, I’m trying to do The Sky Is Crying by Stevie Ray Vaughn and I have the first 2 lines sounding reasonably good considering I havent figured how to play the midi at the same time yet. heh heh
