For choir tution i want to use vocaloid or symphonic choir to sing various bits of music to ‘sol fa’ (do ra me etc).

for each peice i’ll have the relevant part (Suprano, alto, tennor, or base) sung on its own, then with the other 3 parts quieter in the background). All the music is readily avaliable in staff and Sol-Fa.

Has anyone used Vocaloid for something like this/is it reasonably easy to get clear sol fa?

I have alot to do – Is it a slow process? Clearly the ‘word’ (and its length) is linked to the note, but i suspect they have to be entered seperately?

My understanding is that there is only 1 male, and 2 female english language voices – unless there is some way of making the male voice sound like two differant singers, this may be a disadvantage when it comes to trying to have Base and tennor parts at the same time – it woudl sound like the same singer on both parts?

Any comments would be much appreciated – im new to this and unclear how realistic my asperations are!

Thanks

Nathan

Hi Nathan, welcome to the forum.

You are correct, there is currently only 3 English Vocaloid products. but you can have multiple instances of the same singer if you like, so you can build up harmonies.

It is the same voice but there are various parameters that can be adjusted to give the voices different character (for example: gender factor, brightness etc). You can also pan the voices left and right to give them some separation.

There is a downloadable Vocaloid Miriam demo (on the zero-g website), maybe you should try it?

Good luck
