The latest enhancements are really nice. I’ve been playing around with it a bit and find them hugely improved.

The one thing I don’t get is the new Synth Rewire Prep button. OK, it tells vocaloid to send rewire data to the host. So what’s the use? You have to press it each time anyway, so why did they not just let vocaloid send rewire data all the time whenever you use it in rewire mode?

Hi Sepheritoh,

I am one of the development engineers of Vocaloid. Thank you for your compliments.

The reason why we have Synth/ReWire Prep button is a bit complicated.
The main reason is that some ReWire hosts do not understand Start/Stop command from the conterpart, which means that even if you press [Play] button on Vocaloid Editor, the host sequencer does not start playing.
If you use such sequencer, the only way is pressing [Play] on the host sequencer. In this case, however, MIDI information of “Play With Synthesis” tracks should be sent to the host in advance.
To summarize, in order to start playing on such host sequencer, the only solution is sending the MIDI information to the ReWire host from Vocaloid first, and then pressing [Play] on the host. That is why we need the button.

For ReWire hosts that do understand Start/Stop command, theoretically it would be possible to start playing by only pressing [Play] on Vocaloid and therefore the button would not be necessary, but in order to keep consistency we implemented like this.

Maybe we should have made radio buttons for you to switch this option according to the seqencer host you use.

Regards,
HK

Hi HK

Thank you very much for the explanation. It does make sense what you say and how you explained it. Once again, job well done with the new enhancements. I use Sonar 4PE and the new features makes it really a pleasure to use it. I have now had more chance to work with it ad I can honestly say that I am happy. There are a few things that can still be improved, but that is for the next upgrade. As the Japanese themselves would say – if you have a perfect product then you do not have any room for improvement (Kaizen). <img class=” /> (or something like that)
