Vocaloid 2 Editor Questions. Advantages over Vocaloid 1

Hi Everyone,
I watched a couple of Vocaloid 2 Editor Videos on You Tube. I have some questions about the Vocaloid 2 Editor.

1. Can the Vocaloid 1 Editor and Vocaloid 2 Editor read each others Vocaloid midi files?

2. Do you have to buy a specific version of Cubase to use the real time VST Vocaloid plug in? And does it actually work?

3. What are any advantages in Vocaloid Editor 2 over Vocaloid Editor 1?

4. Do the Vocaloid 2 Singers have larger word databases or a larger sounds database?

5. Does Sonika have a full English word database. And is the Japanese Accent consistent, like Miriam’s British one is. I have no desire to remove any natural accents in each Vocaloid. They would all sound pretty much the same if one did.

6. Does the lyric entry window work where you can type lyrics as a set, instead of one word at a time in Vocaloid 1 Editor?

7. In Vocaloid 2 is there still only one undo?

8. Anyone know if a Vocaloid 2 Editor Demo is coming out?

9. How many pages is a Vocaloid 2 Owners Manual and did they add more tutorials?

10. If you were inputting the same song into Vocaloid 1 and Vocaloid 2 would it be a lot faster to finish a Vocaloid track in Editor 2?

11. Do the Vocaloid 2 Singers have any additional expression icons or any kind of additional singing styles over the Vocaloid 1 Singers.

12. If you were going to buy a Vocaloid 2 Singer, which one would you buy and why?

Thanks

I’ll answer the ones that I know. XP

1. Can the Vocaloid 1 Editor and Vocaloid 2 Editor read each others Vocaloid midi files?
YES

2. Do you have to buy a specific version of Cubase to use the real time VST Vocaloid plug in? And does it actually work?
I… don’t think so.

3. What are any advantages in Vocaloid Editor 2 over Vocaloid Editor 1?
I’ve never really found many. Voices just sound more lifelike and the interface is more user friendly.

4. Do the Vocaloid 2 Singers have larger word databases or a larger sounds database?
Some, I think. Trilled Rs, breath noises, etc.

5. Does Sonika have a full English word database. And is the Japanese Accent consistent, like Miriam’s British one is. I have no desire to remove any natural accents in each Vocaloid. They would all sound pretty much the same if one did.
Yes. SONiKA has a full english word database. Accents can be tampered with when editing the phonemes, but some things still remain.

6. Does the lyric entry window work where you can type lyrics as a set, instead of one word at a time in Vocaloid 1 Editor?
I believe so.

7. In Vocaloid 2 is there still only one undo?
Yup. XP

8. Anyone know if a Vocaloid 2 Editor Demo is coming out?
Only Japanese ones that I know of, and they were only limited. Utatane Piko might have one.

9. How many pages is a Vocaloid 2 Owners Manual and did they add more tutorials?
I actually believe less tutorials. Watch Giuseppes tutorials for that I guess.

10. If you were inputting the same song into Vocaloid 1 and Vocaloid 2 would it be a lot faster to finish a Vocaloid track in Editor 2?
That’s practically the same… I think…

11. Do the Vocaloid 2 Singers have any additional expression icons or any kind of additional singing styles over the Vocaloid 1 Singers.
I think the closest to that are Appends. Currently only Japanese VOCALOIDs have them. Miku, Rin and Len, and soon to be GUMI/Megpoid.

12. If you were going to buy a Vocaloid 2 Singer, which one would you buy and why?
Miku first, then SONiKA. :U This is more voice preference than anything. Miku has pretty good fake english, is definitely beginner friendly, and I love her to death, and SONiKA’s easy to morph into whatever you want, but she’s sort of for more advanced users.
