Vocaloid as a starting block - but a few questions.

Hi there. I have a few questions I would like to ask in here, in hope of a reply.

1) how can I stop vocaloid miriam sounding like a chink – child? – I personally think vocaloid miriam has capability, but her voice reminds me very much like a voice of a child – no depth or lowness. Also, when changing notes I find it very hard to make a smooth flow, like every word seems to sound accented and uneven.

2) is there any free vocal processing effect software out there? – I think this is where the real fun will start. Any software or vsts which can process the already made vocals?

regards

Gx

Perhaps try reducing the gender factor a bit… this should make Miriam sound a bit less child like. Obviously too much will make it sound more fake.

On many pitch shifters and harmonisers there is a gender control that can be used to modify the formants to be more masculine or feminine, while keeping the pitch the same. Perhaps this can help you? There must be some free ones that are useable, but I haven’t used any myself.

I think melodyne can do this. Also there is a pitch shifter that comes with the Yamaha 01X that might do it. I know Waves do a good pitch shifter that has formant controls…. but I havent used any of these on Vocaloid before.

You may be able to smooth out the pronunciation by reducing the relative length of some of the phonemes (consonants)?

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Okay thanks for the help :)

did not mean to offend anyone with the definition of chink, but someone suggested that to me which was rather <img class=” />

this is an amazing breakthrough in technology, and apart from those issues I can’t really complain. I have made miriam sound amazing, to the point where your jaws will drop. I’ll see if I can upload anything in the next 2 days or so…

I think you will like it.
