Well, to get the ball rolling I’ve submitted a users demo ‘Wishing for the Moon’ to show my utter incompetence in using vocaloid. Hopefully it should be accessible for you all to have a laugh soon. More seriously though, I’m reasonably pleased with it and hope it does some justice to the kind of thing we might be able to achieve and improve on with a little practice.

I found the first tutorial incredibly helpful so can we have lots more please as time goes on.

I, rather rashly, invested in both Leon and Lola so I need to make it work!!!!!!

If you want to hear other stuff I’ve done using vocaloid it can be accessed from my website at http://www.petergordonplays.com

Cheers all,

Pete

The vocal sounded pretty good Pete. You may have used the pan a bit too much, or maybe thats just how it came out in the MP3 transfer. Instruments seemed to come and go. Good tune tho!!

I may be mistaken about your pan mix. I have Creative extigy sound card and I’m not sure its totally compatible with a lot of files. My vocaloid waves I make also pan when played in creative player. when I load it into cakewalk studio it plays fine.

Your welcome Pete. WHy dont you post the midi and midi vocaloid files here. I can learn more looking at your vocal file than by listening to your mp3

It would seem there is a funny panning issue. Panning effects will not be sound card dependant. This may be a programming issue. Is there NE reason not to render to mono? Hopefully looking 4 advice from prg creatorz….

This iz a great program. Normally I would be angry at having bought a slightly flakey (no diss intended) prg, but in this case, & with this forum, with developperz attending, things will improve from th amazing to the inconceivsbly good

timwill (I won’t) :D :D :D

Yea. That panning is wierd. I got it with the Zero G demos when I played them. Thought They was doing it on purpose, but apparently not. I been doing my waves in mono and it seems to have stopped the panning effect. Someone said mono saves space, but the program I run says it records 2 tracks anyway so Ir wont save space for me.

I really liked the song — original, and a good arrangement. This kind of philosophical lyric works well with a synthetic voice. It shows that these tools can be used to give an effective demo, which for a long time will probably be their main function.

The parts were quite professional-sounding but it’s too much of a wall of sound to hear any of the words. There was a slight kitchen sink feel to it as well — too much going on at times. For the lyrics to be decipherable, the backing would need to be pushed down in volume all or some of the time. Maybe that would expose the weaknesses of Vocaloid, but what I could hear of the voices sounded good. Listeners who don’t care about words would probably find this pretty acceptable though, and I enjoyed it.
