Vocaloid vs Vocaloid 2, what do you think ?

Hi, everybody.

I’m toying with both Kaito and Miku Vocaloids.
The first one uses the first version of Vocaloid engine, while the second uses Vocaloid2 software.
Actually, I’m not really sure that Vocaloid2 engine is really better than it’s first version…
I find easier to achieve convincing results with Kaito than with Miku. (Maybe because I’m pretty a noob…<img class=” /> )
Anyway, it is definitely easier to find realistic Kaito and Meiko clips (Meiko is the other vocaloid1 japanese singer) than Miku’s.
Also, the other Vocaloid2 package (Kagamine rin & Len) sounds pretty poor in every clip I heard…
What do you think ?

I don’t have any V2’s so I can’t give you any comparison, but nii-san is quite easy to archive the "closer to human" voice.

I don’t think it’s the engine that results in MEIKO and KAITO sounding more "human", though. Both MEIKO and KAITO’s voice bank are based off actual singers, while the Character Voice series are based off seiyuu (voice actor) whose not specialized in singing, which IMO plays a pretty big factor in this. It’s probably also the reason why Rin and Len is harder to archive good result than Miku, because of the voice bank.

I’ve heard great Miku/Rin/Len songs that sound like it’s human singing, so it’s not like you can’t archive it with them, it just takes more poking around the program. (Since V2 is suppose to have more features than V1. Again I don’t have any V2’s so I can’t tell.)
