Despite the expense and difficulty, my conscience cries at me to purchase this program legitimately.

Any suggestions for how I’d go about it? And any pitfalls I should be aware of?

I’ve just done my order with HimeyaShop.com[/url:1998kolv]. They have both Hatsune Miku[/url:1998kolv] and Kagamine Rin/Len[/url:1998kolv].

I think she needs japanese language support installed for windows. So you’ll want an original windows disc. You can find out about region settings and such from pretty much anywhere that deals in japanese games. Actually, I think Himeya’s site talks about it. If not, just google something like "playing japanese games."

Tho I don’t think you need the region set to japan. Just the support for the language.

That is correct…to enter notes as romaji (roman char combinations that are the equivalent of Japanese syllables), all you need is Asian language support (Windows installs all east-asian languages as a 350megabyte "block").

If you want to enter notes in actual ひらがな, you will probably need applocal turned on. Do a google search on "microsoft applocal" for a quick explanation. Its unwieldy and I hate it (applocal that is).

Note: if the word HIRAGANA that I typed IN hiragana above shows up to you as a bunch of blocks or wierd chars (UTF8) or questionmarks (ANSI), you do not have asian language support installed.
