Hi all Vocaloid users. Well, after a long & much anticipated wait Prima has arrived, but since it’s release date I have not seen any activity on these forums.
I have bought my copy and installed it, but unfortunately the release came at a time when I have other commitments which have prevented me from finding the time to try it out.
But there must be others out there who have been eagerly waiting to get their hands on it and have now had an opportunity to give it a test run… or is everyone else waiting to hear whether it is worth shelling out their hard earned cash before they buy it?
If there is any one who has tried it out now, how about some feedback on whether the wait was worth it.
I am hoping that I will soon have the time to try it out & when I do I will post my opinion on it.

Thanks for the reply. I am very interested to hear any opinions of Prima. Whether anyone feels that the ease of use is improved, if there are additional useful features. But most importantly of all, is it possible to create a more realistic sounding vocal? I am not expecting miracles and I know that, at this early stage in it’s development, Vocaloid will still not be convincing enough to replicate a live vocalist, but I am hoping that the improvements in the sound are noticeable.
I have had a little time to try it out now & my initial reaction is one of concern that the improvements are not as good as I had hoped. In the limited time I have had to work with it there seem to be some things that sound better & others that don’t even sound as good as my Vocaloid 1 program, Lola.
However I don’t want to pass judgement until I have had enough time using it to give it a fair assessment as I know from using Lola that "tweaking" the sound with the various options such as Brightness, Velocity, Clearness etc. is all important. So I will persevere with it when I have enough time, but in the meantime, anyone else’s opinions would be good to hear.

Ok i got prima up and running this week and all I have to say is….I like this chick! It’s, in my book, exactly what I’ve been waiting for. That being a ethereal opera soprano, believe it or not! I’ve been using Lola pretty much since day one on and off and I feel there is improvement overall from the Vocaloid Ver 1.2 I’ve been using. Keep in mind I produce documentary beds and atmospheric elements for promo’s so I’m heavily using moving vowels with these programs. I don’t use them to say phrases but I managed to type in a simple sentence and changed her attack and vibrato phrasing and got her to say it clearly with minimal tweaking. Cool got that to work now I’m using it for vowels and moving on! The real-time vst performance works well and you can always dump midi data into the program and tweak away (legato, vibrato, etc) just like the original version as much as you want to. The interface and options are pretty close to the original version. Prima’s singer’s performance works well also and if your like me and you have Voices of Passion and want to smash something because the legato performances in that program suck so much ass don’t fret. I think the real-time vst performances of the prima program puts the Voices of Passion legato patches in the corner.

Thanks for your impressions of Prima (also to Shambler in a separate post).
I have still not been able to spend enough time using Prima to form a fair opinion, but my initial impression was disappointment that the vocals didn’t seem much clearer than Vocaloid 1.
However your reviews have given me some optimism and I will be looking forward to seeing what I can do with it when I have the time.
I also hope that now Vocaloid 2 is finally out, after a well earned rest, the development team will be working on improving Vocaloid even further & that we can look forward to 2.1/2/3 and even Vocaloid 3 at some point in the future!
If Anders or any of the development team are checking out these posts, can you confirm whether you will be continuing to work on Vocaloid in the future?
