I’ve got a Mac running Protools, I’ve attached a PC with Vocaloid onto a mini output from Protools I’ve got Logic Audio 5 on the Pc which I can get to chase the Protools rig ok. So far so good but I can’t for the life of me make Vocaloid slave from Logic.

Any bright ideas?

Should I be using something other than Logic?

Why the hell Vocaloid can’t chase the protools rig directly I have no idea!

Oh boy! If I understand it, you want the vocaloid editor to stream out audio in tight synch with Logic on a PC running soft synths, etc which is itself then synched up with Pro Tools on a Mac where the resulting audio is then stored/edited/finalised? Even with Rewire technology, which is not native to Logic or Pro Tools, I REALLY don’t believe that this approach can be made to work at present. It’s a nightmare of synchronisation problems waiting to happen, not to mention the latency issues. My advice would be just to simply export the raw audio files from vocaloid as wav files and import them directly either into the Logic environment or otherwise transfer them to the Pro Tools Mac for editing and integration into your songs. Keep it simple, stupid – as they say.

well, vaguely in synch would be handy … it doesn’t ahve to be that tight but it needs to be approximately in time while we experiment and write with it. It’d be imported into protools and tightened up before we finished the track.

I mean it should be possible shouldn’t it … it’s not that logic has a problem playing along with protools (doesn’t handle loops but thats it)

I am not a Logic user so I cant really help much, but according to propellerheads software’s website (inventers of rewire), Logic 5 does support rewire 1 protocol. This probably works with Vocaloid, I could be wrong (probably am in fact!).

You have to open Logic before Vocaloid in order for rewire to initialise properly. so in theory you might be able to sync vocaloid on a PC to protools on a MAC! …….. Sounds too easy……. Good Luck!!! :D
