Moving Vocaloid

I bought Vocaloid Miriam and it installed fine. However, I put it in the file with other VSTis (as that is primarily how I will use it) in it’s own folder. When I scanned it with Sonar’s VST wrapper, it tried to wrap all of the .dll files in the Miriam program. Soooo, I would like to move Miriam and just leave the VST dll in the VST folder.

In the manual, it talks about the vocaloid_activationinformation.txt file as a way to authorize the product from another computer… so I thought that may be a way to move it. However, I can’t find that file. So, do I have to use another instillation or ?

When I just tried moving it, the program said it coudn’t find the data and automatically shut down.

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum!

I am not 100% sure what you mean. You have installed vocaloid into the vstplugins folder…. yes?

In that case you will need to uninstall it and reinstall it to a different location. The installer program automatically puts the vocaloid VSTi in the vstplugins folder, so dont worry about that.

A couple of things to bear in mind….

according to Zero-G ([url:1nu3y9tj]http://www.zero-g.co.uk/index.cfm?articleid=805[/url:1nu3y9tj]), Sonar wont play the Vocaloid VSTi …….

“…..the VST Instrument cannot be used with VST hosts that do not send NRPN’s. FLStudio and Sonar 3.1.1 are such VST hosts. However, both functions (ReWire and VSTi) work in Cubase VST/SX and other major sequencers.”

I am not a Sonar user so I dont know if this applies to all versions of Sonar. Somone else will know more about this than me. Hopefully the problem will be addressed in future update to Sonar.

By simply uninstalling and reinstalling, it wont use up any of your activations (unless you have changed your network device).

forgot to say, if you have moved vocaloid (or bits of it) from where you installed it orginally, you may have to move it back in order for the uninstall program to work correctly.

I was worried a bit about using up an extra authorization (ala NI stuff) but it was no problem. I did the uninstall, reinstall. I hope you can use it as a rewire app…. personally, I love Sonar (not knocking anyone who uses something else :) ) although I suspect most of my work in this will be stand alone.

Thanks for the reply.

Take care
