Vocaloid VST not working in Cubase SL

Think I have same problem that ‘petemidi’ had/has elsewhere in this forum. I have Cubase SL3 (actually 3.1.0 Build 933) and Vocaloid Miriam with the 1.2 update applied. I save my vocaloid .mid file from Vocaloid Editor. Then I close the Editor, open Cubase SL3, import the .mid file to a midi track, load vocaloid VST, assign it as the output of the midi track . When I play it I hear no sound at all. I can see that midi data is being played. there’s just no sound.
Maybe I’ll just have to live wihtout the VST . I had planned on saving work as WAV files anyway so that I can apply VST effects like reverb etc in Cubase, but I was hoping to use the VST to play around with the Singer settings in real time…

Anyone care to tell me where I might be going wrong…

Thanks

I got it working.

I use Cubase SX.
I loaded the Vocaloid as a VST instrument.
I then created a midi track with midi channel to ANY.
I set midi out on he channel to vocaloid.
Next I open windows explorer and drag/drop a midi file (which I created in the vocaloid).
This midi file looks odd in cubase in that the image as seen on the track has vertical likes in it.
When you open the midi part it will be blank and any edititing in it appears to be ignored.
This plays back ok for me.

Note that the sound starts somewhere in the middle of the midi part and continues way after the part has been passed by the play cursor.

After I played with the VST settings I decided it was not worth doing it this way. I now just export sung sentences as WAV and drag/drop direct on a Audio track.

Hope this is of some use.
